Buck Knives 863 Selkirk Survival Knife: Blade, Fire Steel, and Whistle all in One – Shot Show 2015

If you know knives, you know the name Buck. They’ve been around since the early 1900s and they continue to make some quality knives. I had to chance to swing by the booth and talk with Joe about some of their new blades including this survival knife. This is the 863 Selkirk Survival Knife is – in my opinion – a very nice compromise between a larger “chopper” of a knife and a straight-up bushcraft knife. A solid sheath, a fire steel, a whistle – these all come standard with the knife. And I really like the look of this one – what do you think?

NOTE: The 863 Buck Survival Knife is not available at the time of this video (January 2015) or even as of August 2015, but here are some other fixed blades from Buck that you may want to check out:

  1. Does unboxing and review for this very knife on my channel. This knife is probably cost me (my insurance) $100,000. Lol!!

  2. I love that knife so much and will probably end up getting one even though I have one long blade Buck knife I purchased over 35 years ago, and a model 110 folding knife which I have had for over 30 years. I would not ruin the end of the knife by pounding something with it just as I have not used either of my other Buck knives for pounding with. I had a model 119 before getting the long blade model, but my grandfather saw it and wanted it so I gave it to him and when I returned to my base and looked for another one I found that the exchange had sold all of the 119’s and only had the longer blade knives left so I purchased one and loved it.

  3. just got mine today…fire rod broke after a few try…and it is way smaller..and cheaper today in 2017 Knife looks fine.

  4. They need to make one with a leather sheath (the brown one) and one with black handle scales (the one with the black sheath).

  5. As long as a company is willing to pay a bit more, China will make good quality products. with stuff made on the US you are driving up the costs like 5x and not everyone had that kind of money. I’ve had this knife for a week now. it works really well.
